Weight the score:

A School score is shown only where a school-level measure is published: attendance (NSW & SA) or university destinations (VIC). It blends that evidence with community Advantage (ABS SEIFA) and area Year-12 attainment (ABS Census), using the weights above. It is our estimate from open data — not ICSEA and not an official rating.

Most schools are intentionally unscored. For about 3 in 4 Australian schools, the available signals describe only the surrounding area. Those rows show a dash for School score; use the separate CAI column to compare area context without implying school performance.

What each column means
School / Suburb / State
The school as its state education department publishes it, and the suburb it sits in.
Sector · Type · Years
Government, Catholic or Independent; primary, secondary, combined or special; the year levels it teaches.
Enrol
The department's own enrolment count — a size figure, not a quality one. Departments count different things at different censuses: NSW government schools, August census, FTE, counting full-time-equivalent students at the department's August census, government schools — the department's file does not say which year's census; VIC, February 2025 census, FTE, counting full-time-equivalent students, all sectors — a part-time or shared student counts as a fraction; QLD non-state schools, February 2026 census, full-time students, counting full-time students only, Catholic and Independent schools — part-time students are published separately and not added; QLD state schools, February 2019 census, full-time students, counting full-time students only, state schools — part-time students are not counted; WA, Semester 1 2026 census, all students, counting every student the department lists, including kindergarten, all sectors — the file does not say whether these are headcounts or FTE. Compare enrolment only between schools in the same series — hover over a figure to see which one it belongs to.
Attend
The school's own published attendance rate. NSW & SA publish it per school; other states do not, so most rows are blank. Each state's figure belongs to its own series — NSW, Semester 1 2024, counting students in Years 1–10 only (the national reporting standard); SA, Semester 1 2023, counting every full-time student, with no year-level restriction. They measure different things, so compare attendance only between schools in the same state (the St column). Full method ▸
Attendance trend
Percentage-point change in that attendance rate since 2019 — a recovery/engagement signal. Full method ▸
CAI (area)
Community Advantage Index — area advantage: where the suburb ranks among 14,490 Australian suburbs on ABS SEIFA. A percentile, not a mark out of 100, and it describes the area — never the school. Elsewhere on the site we print the measured share with it: a suburb on 90 sits in the top 10% of Australian suburbs, one on 10 in the bottom 9% of Australian suburbs. Full method ▸
Year-12 area %
Share of residents aged 15+ in the suburb who completed Year 12 (ABS Census). Again an area figure, not the school's. Full method ▸
→Uni
Share of the school's Year-12 leavers enrolling at university (On Track survey). VIC only. Full method ▸
Val-add
Attendance compared with what the area's advantage predicts — "punching above its postcode". Fitted separately within each state, so it too compares a school only with schools in its own state. Full method ▸
Growth
Enrolment change over five years (VIC & SA) — a population and capacity signal: not a quality one, and not proof that parents are choosing the school. Each state's figure belongs to its own series and window — VIC, FTE, Feb 2020→Feb 2025, counting full-time-equivalent students at the February census, all sectors; SA, FTE, Term 3 2019→Term 3 2024, counting full-time-equivalent students at the Term 3 (August) census, government schools only. They count different things at different censuses, so compare growth only between schools in the same state (the St column). Full method ▸
School score
Our composite, shown only where a school-level measure exists. A dash means we have no school-level evidence and will not imply one. Full method ▸
